Days Left to Journey: 28-27 Days (Sudden Change)
Training Kilometers Cycled: 675 km
Team A - Solid.
I finally have a cycling buddy - Ms. Heather Halk, a fellow English Teaching Assistant. She's 110% committed. There may also be another team member from America who will fly in from Thailand. Details to come.
Plan A - Solid-er (Not quite solid, but revamped)
The whole idea behind this cycle ride has become clearer over the last 3 weeks. Give back to Indonesia. I feel as if Indonesia has given myself and Heather a whole lot and, at least in my situation, has requested little in return. I've dived beautiful coral, rested on pristine black sand beaches, been given so much hospitality that a cynic like myself has changed his ways, and all for a pittance of time and money. I cannot simply take from this country my memories, photos, and stories without feeling a great sense of regret that I cannot reciprocate something.
The plan has been modified to try and do something for several aspects of Indonesia, mixed in with some cycling fun, and a personable touch. 4 general areas to give back in: health, art, conservation, and women's issues.
The tentative dates are now May 23rd to approximately June 13th. That gives us a full 21 days to go at least 1200 km.
A Solidly Sad Day.
I must return Lontong... Another bike to come!
