It's Stuck!
Today I finally got around to calling paypal.com about my account limitation. I found out that I cannot accept donations because I am not a registered non-proft. Ugh. So all of you open-hearted folk who were wondering why the donation counter wasn't going up, it's because none of it was reaching me. My time in Indonesia has surely affected my mindset. Sure, lots of things are horrendously inefficient here, but things like protocols and rules generally have workarounds - like 3rd party software.
Solution.
You will now be "purchasing items" from me, which really means donating or contributing. The backlash - I'll pay taxes on it next year. This also means for you economically minded folk, this won't be tax deductible. It's a tremendously small price to pay for not giving up mission, right?Yes, I do sometimes wonder why I don't connect with the World Wildlife Fund or UNICEF and do it in a slightly easier way; they do great work. Our mission is just on a more personal level, comparable to taking part in the whole process of manufacturing products. It's integrated with no alienation between the donors (you), the delivery folk (us), and the recipients (Indonesians). You know us, me and Heather, probably, and you will see the whole process transpire on a micro level. Is this a whole new trend of volunteer work, like micro loans?! Probably not, but we're giving it a shot.
Thanks for your support!
